It’s all about football in Rostock. Only in the Ruhr region does one feel such great enthusiasm for the round one that goes into the square.

Unfortunately, the current configuration of the stadium falls far short of the permitted capacity of 30,000 spectators. In particular, the increased demand for more business seats should be met.

Implementation

Companeer examined the stadium, identified and evaluated the potential to reach full stadium capacity. Many of the quick wins to avoid seat kills were implemented by the club immediately. For example, the media stand was reduced, both in terms of number and size of media workstations. The tables were very deep and covered two bleacher steps per row, which is no longer necessary with the flat screens, laptops and mobile devices used today.

But the greatest potential was identified by Companeer in relocating the guest block. This is currently located right next to the home curve, which results in very large buffer blocks. However, moving the guest block did not seem trivial, because the location of the guest block is coordinated with the overall traffic concept and, in particular, the fan separation druing arrival. It was decided to examine the chances to relocate the guest block in a separate project.
