13.500 m² for catering and fringe events – a luxury tented quarter for 6,000 guests
The so-called Champions Village is the hospitality village of the UEFA sponsors. A gigantic temporary tented quarter was set up to offer a high-quality culinary offering in an exclusive atmosphere for 6,000 guests – with entertainment highlights around the final.
An area of 13,500 m2 is needed for the tented quarter – unobstructed, with water and electricity supply, optimum access to the arena and a good infrastructure. Plus: good parking facilities.
The coach park at the north end of the arena was designated for the Champions Village. Two months before the final, work began to clear the site for construction: 180 trees were transplanted; numerous lamp poles, traffic control installations, refuse bins and sanitary facilities had to be moved. And: To accommodate the heavy load of the tents, the foundations had to be improved. The coordination began months in advance: Companeer coordinated the information flow between the event architects, independent experts and local authorities, held talks with the fire prevention department, local building commission and the local nature conservation agency. Companeer provided office and storage containers and secured the electricity supply and IT services. A functioning infrastructure with site electricity, water and sewage technology evolved. On 12 April tent erection began during normal stadium operations. Escape scenarios and evacuation routes were continually adjusted and coordinated with the fire prevention department. Even the demolition work was managed by Companeer.
