Containers, cranes, catering – big events need big measures
A Champions League Final is an extraordinary event. The ambiance in the hospitality areas should be just as exceptional.
The UEFA’s request: The guests in the VIP boxes and lounges should have the feeling they are experiencing a unique spectacle that cannot be compared to the everyday games of the German National League.
The result: The existing furnishings and fittings in all boxes, lounges and in the Business Club had to make way for a completely new concept in design and catering. Other areas and rooms also received new functions. Furnishings and storage areas had to be cleared.
Here too the motto was: Time is ticking...! The challenge wasn’t the mass of material to be moved, but the tight time slot in the middle of regular operations in the Allianz Arena. In just a short time a total of 7,000 m2 of surface area had to be cleared – and then put back in its original condition after the event. In the hospitality areas, the timeframe was particulary tight: Due to a friendly match planned just after the final the dismantling had to be completed within two days. Companeer developed suitable concepts together with a logistic company and coordinated all involved parties – such as the UEFA, the catering firms, event architects and technicians. Forty people worked day and night to pack furniture into overseas containers. On two levels simultaneously 42 overseas containers were moved, loaded and transported to storage areas outside the arena using a 70 ton crane and forklift trucks. Whilst on the one side in the Business Club they were still clearing out, on the other side work was already beginning on the redesign.
