More comfort and faster handling at the same time

Requirements

The Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH as well as the FC Bayern München had the intention to optimize the pre-control to the Allianz Arena, the home venue of the FC Bayern. The aim was to increase the efficiency of people screening by 50% and thus rapidly reduce the waiting time of visitors.

At the same time, a better division of functional areas was requested. Among other things, this concerned ticket clearing and insufficient trouble counters. In order to provide the visitor as well as the security staff with a certain comfort even in bad weather, the entire pre-inspection should be equipped with a weather protection roof. Staff also suggested wider spacing between checkpoints to allow for unobstructed work.

So the task was to create more capacity and more comfort in the same limited space at the same time. Sounds incompatible? Not for Companeer.

Implementation

During the development of a suitable concept for increasing the capacity of the preliminary checks, test setups for checking people were tested in several variants under the most realistic possible conditions in close cooperation with the Allianz Arena security service. This incorporated companeer’s patented Z airlock into the design. In this way, the most efficient way of setting up the singling systems was determined, which would provide sufficient working space for the orderly service even with a passage width of only 60 cm.

Based on these results, a trial setup was organized for a test in real operation. In cooperation with a local metal builder, the capacity was expanded from four to six gates in one section of the preliminary inspection and tested during a Bundesliga and a Champions League match.

In addition to the increase in performance, the functional requirements of the preliminary inspection south were also redesigned. Parts of it were:

  • Upgrading of the existing trouble counter
  • Additional trouble counters or ticket clearing counters
  • Weather protection roof
  • Creation VIP entrance with increased comfort
  • Creation of special entrance for accredited
  • Creation special entrance for fans with fan equipment

The subsequent feasibility study brought together the positive findings from the test setups and the concept ideas with a rough cost estimate and schedule, which finally served the architect as the basis for the aesthetic design of the new pre-control.
