Matching between facade panels and lighting control – Where am I?

Requirements

The illuminated cushion facade is considered the visual highlight of the Allianz Arena. The 1,056 illuminated panels are able to shine in all imaginable patterns and ensure that the arena also becomes THE eye-catcher at night in front of the northern gates of Munich.

But even despite the latest LED technology, there are occasional failures of the panel lights. In order to be able to react as quickly as possible in such a case and to efficiently restore the seamless appearance by troubleshooting, a plan with all the associated technical information is necessary. In addition, such a plan helps in programming new appearances.

Implementation

First, the previous troubleshooting procedure was clarified with the client. From the outside (usually by the security company of the arena) comes by photo the message that a panel area is not lit. The cushions are then controlled by the programming department according to the “try and error” principle. The effort until the affected cushions can be identified in this way can sometimes be very time-consuming and thus cost-intensive.

Companeer has now been tasked with developing a solution to quickly identify the photographed cushions and to have the following information immediately at hand as part of the identification process:

• Where is the panel?
• What room is behind the panel?
• What is the best way to reach the panel?
• In which circuit is the illumination of the panel?
• Which distribution room belongs to the circuit?
• Which enabler is used to control the panels?

In order to be able to link the multitude of information with the defect photos, Companeer developed a panel plan that works in conjunction with a table showing the more detailed information on the individual panels.
